A Poem For Mom
Spread your wings and let your soul take flight
towards that beloved haven of goodness and light.
In God's tender arms may you always rest.
And never forget that you were the best.
Always the first person to reach out to others
The kindest and dearest of earthly mothers
Your devotion to Mary inspired us all
to pick ourselves up whenever we fall.
You prayed for our happiness with unceasing hope
that we'd tackle life's struggles and learn how to cope.
Throughout your life, you let faith be your guide.
You valued the family that flocked to your side.
We cherish the things that you used to say
to help keep us from going astray.
"Enjoy yourself while you're young," you advised.
"But do it in a way that is proper and wise.
It costs not a penny or dime to be kind,
especially keeping your elders in mind.
Don't laugh as those less fortunate than you.
Make them aware that they matter, too."
Those were the lessons you taught us, sweet mother,
that we're all children of God who should love one another.
